Teachers, Try This: Teach Reading Through Hopscotch

For students at all reading levels, these hopscotch mats create a fun and supportive daily reading practice.

As students walk in to class each morning, they encounter one of many hopscotch mats that first grade teacher Morgan Simpson has created.

Rolled out at the door each morning, students toss off their shoes and hop their way through a variety of phonics and decoding lessons designed to bolster their reading skills in a fun and supportive environment. The practice also gives Simpson a daily opportunity to assess how each student is doing.
